Primer

The complete map of 3D geometry skills on one screen: nine domains (Projection & Views, Curves, Surfaces, Solids & Topology, Form Operations, Transformations, Sections & Intersections, Development & Discretization, Measure & Proportion), each skill tiered Foundation / Working / Advanced and carrying a precise definition, its studio relevance, the Rhino vocabulary that operates on it, and cross-links to the toolkit tools that exercise it. Where a fact deserves a model there is a live demo — a projection box with an unfold control and a per-edge true-length table, a silhouette-reconstruction field that counts exactly how much three views underdetermine a solid, a single-view alignment that closes an open chain from one direction only. The taxonomy exports as a CSV checklist; demo geometry exports as .3dm in feet. Client-side, no account.

Projection & Views

How 3D form becomes 2D drawing, and what survives the trip

Curves

The 1D vocabulary everything else is built from

Surfaces

The 2D skins — how they curve, and what that costs

Solids & Topology

What makes geometry watertight, printable and countable

Form Operations

The generative verbs — form as a short sentence of operations

Transformations

Moving, repeating and deforming — and why order matters

Sections & Intersections

Where planes and surfaces meet — the constructed cut

Development & Discretization

From curved surface to flat sheet, mesh and machine

Measure & Proportion

Putting numbers and the body against form

Projection & Views · Tier 1 Foundation

Orthographic projection

Definition

Parallel projection onto a plane perpendicular to the view direction; plan, front and side are orthographic projections onto three mutually perpendicular planes.

In the studio

Every plan, section and elevation in a drawing set is one of these; the three views move together because they are one object flattened three ways.
